Inspiration/Meaning: A griot (pronounced gree-oh or gree-ot) is a West African travelling historian, storyteller, praise singer, poet and/or musician. The griot is a keeper of oral tradition. Real T@lk identifies as a griot; not only is he an artist, but he's African-American. Most African-Americans are descendants of slaves that were originally taken from West Africa, hence... "Memoirs Of A Modern-Day Griot". This is the first episode of an ongoing documentary that gives a glimpse of a modern-day griot's journey and the individuals that he or she may encounter along the way. Enjoy!
